I am going to give a small presentation in the old manor house, the old Kubotsu clinic in Kubotsu village, where I conducted my field research in november 2007.
After eight years of living in the netherlands, I visited this fishermen's village. the reason for this was that my former 'Arnemuiden project (2003-2005)' in the netherlands recalled my childhood memories from Kubotsu.
Strangely images of landscape, stories came back to me ever so clear with strong familiar feelings although I had not been there for past twenty-five years.
Where are these deep familiar feelings coming from? Am I searching for primal images I experienced in my childhood in this village? Or am I looking for archetypal scenes?
With these questions, I visited the village and collected materials for my works. stories, words, pictures, sound, old photographs and so on. The chosen location for the presentation used to be the only clinic in the village and it embraces diverse memories of Kubotsu people, I challenge to create my kubotsu world by arranging it with drawing, animation and other works.
